Common Issues with Printing Checks in Connect Now

Checks print a little differently than any other report in ConnectNow. They open up in a new window and use Adobe Reader which controls the actual printing of checks. So if your checks do not print it could be one of two things: a pop-up blocker is preventing the window from showing or the version/settings in Adobe Reader may be incorrect.

First of all if you do not have Adobe Reader installed, you’ll want to be sure to download and install Adobe Reader X, which can be downloaded for free at
www.adobe.com.

To check if you have Adobe Reader X installed, please note the following steps based on the operating system that you have.
For Windows 7 and Vista:
1. Click on the Start Menu located on the bottom left hand side of the screen
2. Click on the All Programs link once the Start Menu opens
3. At the very top of the All Programs section there should be this link if Adobe Reader X is installed:
4. If you have this link, please click on it and verify that Adobe Reader opens up correctly. If you don’t have this link please go to www.adobe.com to download and install Adobe Reader X.

For Windows XP:

Once you have Adobe Reader X installed or verified, double click the Adobe Reader icon on your Windows Desktop or click on the Adobe Reader link in the Start Menu if there is no link on the desktop. Once Adobe Reader X is open, click Edit | Preferences.

Once the Preferences window opens, on the left hand side of the window you should see a list of Categories, please click on the Internet category. Please make sure that the checkbox “Display PDF in browser” is checked and uncheck the “Display in Read Mode by default” checkbox. Now you can click on the OK button and close Adobe Reader X.

Now open ConnectNow and try to print your checks. If they’re still not coming up properly:

Look for a little yellow bar that displays in the upper portion of the window letting you know that a pop-up window was blocked.
In Internet Explorer, right-click the yellow bar for more options and choose the “Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site” option.

In Firefox, click the Options button on the right and choose “Allow pop-ups for charlottetraining.connectnowaccounting.com”.

Here’s how you can adjust the setting for the parishes whose checks are coming up in a window behind the ConnectNow display.
Internet Explorer:
1. Go to Tools | Internet Options
2. Click the General Tab, then the Settings button in the Tabs section

3. In the “When a pop-up is encountered” section, choose “Always open pop-ups in a new tab”, and in the “Open links from other programs in:” section choose “A new tab in current window”.

Firefox:
1. Go to Tools | Options
2. Go to the Tabs link at the top and check the box at “When I open a new tab, switch to it immediately”.
